Creative Projects: Sewing

October 2, 2014 bakedsunshine2 Comments

For the past several years, I have been bugging my mother to buy me a sewing machine. I’ve always been a bit craft-oriented, and having taught myself knitting, crochet, macrame and a number of other skills over the internet, learning how to sew actual clothes was high on the priority list. All through med school,… Continue reading Creative Projects: Sewing

Of poetry and the male form.

January 28, 2013October 9, 2013 bakedsunshine9 Comments

It was a whim that drove me yesterday to begin searching for love poetry written by women authors, or at the very least from a female perspective. Although this has been up and coming for a long time – ever since I immersed myself properly in Pablo Neruda’s work, and found that poem after lovely,… Continue reading Of poetry and the male form.

The Red Tent

May 4, 2011May 4, 2011 bakedsunshine13 Comments

“The great mother whom we call Innana is a fierce warrior and Death’s bridesmaid. The great mother whom we call Innana is the center of pleasure, the one who makes women and men turn to one another in the night. The great mother whom we call Innana is the queen of the ocean and the… Continue reading The Red Tent

of creativity and stirring muses.

There is so much I can do.  There are just some moods and seasons when my Muse wakes up and all I feel is creativity.  And these days its the best kind, not the desperate excitement about a single project that is expansive and enormous and will probably never be completed satisfactorily, but the quiet… Continue reading of creativity and stirring muses.

I spent today making these out of old wedding cards.  Thought I’d post them up here as a substitute for a long ramble.   If your card is one of those that got butchered, apologies – but that’s how the trees felt when they were killed for your fancy invitations. Ever heard of saving paper?… Continue reading Bookmarks.

Meet the Year 3 Family.

February 1, 2011February 1, 2011 bakedsunshine9 Comments

This was inspired by a conversation with a classmate.  She remarked that Internal Med sounded a good deal like Family Med’s older brother, and the rest of the idea spawned from that one statement…anyhoo, this was the result.  As soon as I got bored enough to want to mess around on Paint. Without further ado,… Continue reading Meet the Year 3 Family.

Favourite A Softer Worlds

December 19, 2010January 1, 2011 bakedsunshine2 Comments

I love almost every one of the strips these guys make, but of course there have been some more favourite than others. I will add the links to these when I find them, otherwise these were just a few I’d saved on my computer because I loved them so much.  They have such a strange,… Continue reading Favourite A Softer Worlds

Me

A book-loving, day-dreaming, internet-devoted doctor lost in the world of stethoscopes and skepticism. Lazy, inspired, restless, in love with my little life and most of the things in it, altho perpetually curious and also rather clueless about things outside it. I am mostly as happy as a frog in a well, when I'm in my well and not forced into the open. Interested but not interesting. I have a talent for picking up talents but no genius for any particular thing. Possessive, determined and practical, when not being deliberately lazy I'm a typical Capricorn. Although I hate labels. I will rag you out on feminism, books, fatism, racism and religion. But most other topics find me calm.
